Another year on and the tug-o-war decision of how much money, which developer, if any and what plan will become of the bus station? There's a growing following for change and general interest in re-modernising for the creatives - for giving it back to the people - it should be something but the Council argues its millions for redeveloping, saying it will only cost half to get rid and build something new.
Looks like they will get the last word.

What next?
I can only go by hearsay, no longer working for the council but knowing people within it, but since John Lewis pulled out and there still may be some interest in the project of the bus station, I can only hope that they will listen to people and review the idea of renewal and redesign. Surely a cheaper option? If imagination was to creep in then this could turn the city around more...sure, get rid of the buses, invest, but be creative!
Rant over.

Preston Bus Station continues to have a questionable future. Just recently (May/June 2010) I heard that 'they' are considering to abandon demolition and think about revamping the interior! We've heard all sorts and it is very difficult unless you are at the heart of these issues...
In spite of this I still think there are elements within the building's hardened exterior that can produce photographs that aren't necessarily demeening of its quality. So, it lives another day and now and then I pop over with a Mamiya 645...
